Art in Aldeburgh
Founded in 2014 by Lesley Shooter, Art in Aldeburgh grew from her belief – shaped by her background in psychotherapy – that creative practice can be a powerful space for reflection, connection, and personal growth. After many dedicated years, Lesley passed Art in Aldeburgh to Caro Burberry, who guided it through a transitional year. Caro continues to teach with Art in Aldeburgh, and the organisation is now led by Anya Waddington, building on the strong foundations Lesley established.
Art in Aldeburgh launched its first course in October 2014, responding to an appetite for high-quality art courses in Aldeburgh for both those new to art and those with some experience. From the outset, courses were held in a quiet private studio on Victoria Road, just a few minutes’ walk from the seafront. The intimate studio setting, combined with small group sizes of just six participants, offers an environment where each person can be supported as an individual – a principle that remains central to the courses today.
During the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Art in Aldeburgh was hosted at The Red House in Aldeburgh, whose beautiful gardens allowed courses to continue safely during the Covid pandemic. The organisation has since returned to its Victoria Road studio, with lunch now hosted nearby at the well-known Lighthouse Restaurant.
Bookings are now open for the 2026 season. A £50 deposit will secure your place, with the remaining balance requested eight weeks before the course begins. Initial enquiries can be made using the booking form on this website.
Course fees are £135 for a one-day course and £255 for a two-day course. Each course is limited to six participants and includes lunch. If you are planning to stay in Aldeburgh, please see the Accommodation page for local suggestions. Accommodation should be booked directly with your chosen hotel, guest house, or B&B.
