Art in Aldeburgh

Art in Aldeburgh, founded by Lesley Shooter, launched its first course in October 2014. There was a need for art courses in Aldeburgh for those new to art as well as those with some experience. Courses were held in a quiet private studio setting in Victoria Road in Aldeburgh, just a few minutes’ walk from the sea front. It proved ideal for participants wanting to explore their creativity and develop new techniques guided by experienced tutors. The small group size  of just 6 enabled each person to be taught as an individual and this remains an important consideration for our courses today.

For the 2021 and 2022 seasons, The Red House in Aldeburgh with their beautiful gardens gave us extra space for our courses in order to allow social distancing during the Covid pandemic, after which we were able to return to our studio in Victoria Road with our new lunch venue, the well known Lighthouse Restaurant, within just a few minutes’ walking distance.

At the end of our 2024 season Lesley decided it was time for her and husband Barry to take a step back from running Art in Aldeburgh in order to spend more time with family and their other leisure pursuits and creative interests.  Caro Burberry, one of our regular tutors, having run her own courses for over 30 years, has now taken Art in Aldeburgh under her wing and is looking forward to keeping our art courses thriving in the years to come.

We are beginning now to take bookings for the 2025 season and a £50 deposit will secure your booked place. The balance of fees is due when we send you our payment request no later than 6 weeks prior to your course. Please understand that deposits cover our administration costs and are therefore non-refundable. Initial inquiries for a place on your chosen course should be made using the booking form provided on this website.

The cost is £125 for a single day course, £235 for two day courses and £345 for three day courses. Each course is limited to six people and includes a light lunch.
