A few words from our Founder, Lesley Shooter…
“Caro has asked me to outline how Art in Aldeburgh came about. Having just passed AinA to her seemed a good time to think back to why and how did it grow into what is now a busy, thriving organisation.
Carole Massey an old friend and tutor of mine visited Aldeburgh, having sold her home in France she and her husband Eric decided to come back and live in England again. I had just retired from my psychotherapist practice and knew that I wanted to take up my time getting involved with something that I could get my teeth into, something which I would enjoy and find useful but I wasn’t sure what. I soon realised that there were similarities to my psychotherapy practice and being involved in art courses. Art was creative, for myself but also also people joining regularly in practising the fundamental elements of art. Our courses would allow people to develop not only their creative experience but personally. It became a bridge into another part of life. Carole first saw our small studio in Victoria Road and knowing that I’d just managed to get my degree in art, suggested that I run a course. I declined saying ‘I was not a tutor but a new girl on the block’. So in October 4th and 5th 2014 Carole tutored her first course for us ‘Pastel and Pastel Pencils’. There was obviously a need for art courses in Aldeburgh for those new to art (as I had been) and those with some experience. I wish everyone good luck with their journey; I’m sure Caro and her partner Richard will keep Art in Aldeburgh thriving.”
The cost is £125 for a one day course, £235 for two day courses and £345 for three day courses. The price includes a lunch.
